Though we're still not used to the heat, we seem to have found entertaining things to do in Nashville. This weekend was slightly touristy, though it started out with a bike-gang rendesvous at the local independent theater to see the opening night of Exit Through the Gift Shop. (Can you say hipster?) Look at all those bikes!
Saturday John and I set out to see the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (which I toured with Hatch but wanted to go back to with John.). I finally got a photo of my favorite part:
And John got to pose with his beartastic bear friend. (There really isn't that much taxidermy in the museum, in fact, these are pretty much the only two taxidermy exhibits. Well, except for Johnny Cash's body, but they don't let you photograph that.)
Bike riding around Nashville has been fun, because we get to see and notice a lot of stuff you probably wouldn't find in a car. Like this amazing advertisement painted on the side of the old Marathon Motor Works building, which seems like it's now been turned into offices and lofts.
Saturday night we went to the First Saturday Art Crawl at the Arcade, which basically consisted of hundreds of sweaty people shuffling through a poorly ventilated building, and some shitty art. We did, however, find one artist that made it all worthwhile:
Michael Brown is a painting professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, and if I had $5,000 to blow I would have bought one of his paintings. They are fantastically realistic and detailed.
Sunday morning we rose bright-and-early to wait in line for an hour to eat at The Pancake Pantry. And it was so worth it.
