Weekends always start out better with the prospect of an extra day, and us lucky interns got Memorial Day off! Friday has seemed to become 'Hatch shirt' day, and John wore his too.
Then I got to work and realized Laura was wearing the same one! All three of us went to the grocery store after work, and we looked like some kind of letterpress gang.
On Saturday John and I decided to check out the Adventure Science Center, which I thought would be kind of like the Exploratorium in San Francisco. It was fun, but definitely much more kid-oriented (as illustrated by the amazing Meerkat puppet show pictured above.)
On our bike ride back we stopped at a coffee shop called Fidosto have lunch, and afterwards stopped in the Clothing Exchange thrift store , where I found this awesome butterfly shirt for $5!
We also made Bird Friends at Cafe Coco on Sunday, and they had amazing Carrot Cake.
It was so hot in the park, we couldn't resist Snow Cones (while taking shelter from the pouring rain under the Parthenon roof)
Sunday night we rode our bikes over to the Station Inn to see a free Bluegrass Jam (no photos, since it was too dark), that was full of a ton of awesome characters. There must have been 10 banjos, 15 guitars, a stand up bass, and a fiddle. We also saw fireflies for the first time ever!
Monday we went back to the park for a Bluegrass Music Festival (which actually wasn't very good), and the inside of the Parthenon was opened, so we decided to give it a shot.
There was a HUGE statue inside, which I think might actually be a replica of the Athena statue that used to be in the original Greek Parthenon. She had really big toes.
On our bike ride home, we noticed this awesome C&P statue in front of the Midtown Printing Company, which was slightly ironic because they're a digital printing company, but I liked the reference all the same.
