In other news, I snapped a photo today of the oldest typeface in the shop. This is Steamer, a font originally designed in the 1800's. It was used to print a flyer for a relative of Harriet Beecher Stowe! The type in the top row is the original cut, and the row below was a re-cut for the shop's anniversary. The original type only had a partial alphabet, so they had a full set cut partly as a commemoration, but also so they could still print with it.
The best part about working at Hatch thus far (aside from the amazing historical significance and all of the awesome old stuff) is the awesome people. Everyone is super friendly and fun to be around, and I've had a blast working with them every day.
