Here's another of the books I made in
Lisa Kokin's class last semester. This one is entitled "Strangers" and started with an old accordian billows I was gifted by
Kim Boekbinder.

I think the prompt for this project was to make a book-sculpture, incorporating text from some book blocks Lisa brought to class for us to use (most of them were old self-help books).

I had found these seahorses at
The Bone Room in Berkeley a while back, and felt it was appropriate to incorporate them with a text about human courtship. Seahorses have fascinating
mating rituals, and in terms of giving birth the gender roles are reversed.

The text from the book was printed on a semi-transparent vellum, and the back of the billows is wired with LED lights (and a switch to turn them on and off).
